Edmonton Eskimos (2-6) play the Calgary Stampeders (7-1) on Labour Day Monday and the Eskimos will be looking to continue their winning ways although it’s going to be tough against the best team in the league. Edmonton still has a shot at making the playoffs this season, but in order to do that they’re going to need to win a lot of their remaining games. With the next two games against the Stampeders and then their next game against the Alouettes, winning might prove difficult for the Eskimos.

Last week the Eskimos beat the Roughriders 17-14 in a strange game. Saskatchewan opened up the game on fire and was winning the game 14-0 after the 1st quarter. Both Edmonton QB’s played in the game and whichever one starts this week will need to play better then they did last week. Ray threw 1 INT last week on 11 attempts and Zabransky threw 2 INT’s on 17 attempts. Whitlock had a good game running the ball and gained 74 yards on 14 carries.

Bet at Bookmaker for the best odds.

Calgary also won last week against the Lions by a score of 48-35, but it was far from a pretty victory. Burris threw 3 INT’s in the game and will need to make sure he doesn’t try to force the ball this week. Reynolds and Cornish both had great days running the ball and combined for 18 carries and 164 yards, but they couldn’t find the endzone. I still think Calgary needs to utilize their running game more and take some of the pressure off of Burris.

In the first match-up between these two teams this season, the Stamps ended up beating up on the Eskimos and won the game with a final score of 56-15, which meant they easily covered and the game went over the posted total. So far this season the Stamps have a perfect 4-0 record at home while the Eskimos have a 0-3 record while playing on the road. I think the Stampeders are going to win the game Monday, but the big question is will they be able to cover the huge point spread.

Edmonton Eskimos vs. Calgary Stampeders –12.5
Edmonton Eskimos vs. Calgary Stampeders O/U 54

The point spread is really high in Monday’s game, but I still have to take the Stampeders in this one. Edmonton has played poorly against Calgary in the past few years and it’s going to be a tough game for them tomorrow. Calgary has an impressive 4-1 record ATS against Edmonton in their past 5 games and an even better 6-2 ATS record when they play Edmonton in Calgary. In the first game between these two teams this season the Stamps stomped Edmonton and I expect more of the same this Monday.

Last time these two met there were 71 points scored and I expect more of the same this week. Calgary has an incredible offence this season and shouldn’t have any problem putting up at least 40+ points on the Eskimos. One thing I don’t like is that the under is 4-1 the last 5 games played in Calgary between these two teams. What I do like is the fact that both teams have been playing a lot of high scoring games recently. The Stamps have gone over 4 times in their past 6 games with 1 push and the Eskimos have gone over 4 times in their last 5 games.

My Picks – Stampeders –12.5 & Over 54. Bet at Bookmaker.com for the best odds.
