Drew Brees Needs Some New Commercials

Hopefully, the publicity that comes with a Super Bowl appearance will afford Drew Brees the opportunity to land some new commercial deals. Besides a couple SportsCenter ads and a brief cameo in a Madden spot, the Saints signal caller has been relatively absent from the airwaves.

Unless you count the work he’s doing for “Spark.” Watch the promo after the jump.

I don’t take issue with the commercial itself. The production value is above average and Brees does a credible job shilling the product. My problem is with the packaging.

At first, I thought he was pitching spark plugs, not an energy drink called “Spark.” Maybe it was him rolling a tire that threw me off. At any rate, I’m accustomed to energy drinks coming in bright neon bottles with red flames brandished across the front. Not some boring orange cardboard box with plain white font.

Brees deserves better. I’m thinking something like deodorant campaign would be perfect: “Stay fresh, like a cool Brees. Use Gillette Anti-Perspirant.” Hey, that’s not half-bad. Anyone got Drew’s number?

Haha! Wow! Yeah, he definitely needs to mix it up a bit like Peyton Manning does with all his commercials.

  2. Jackie says:

Drew’s support of Advocare Spark has nothing to do with the packaging. Just like Drew, its what is inside that counts. Spark is a sugar-free, sodium-free, source of long lasting mental focus. While the commercials are a bit goofy, the product is awesome!
