Dolphins Are For Defense; Broncos Against

Less than 24 hours after defensive coordinator Mike Nolan jumped ship in Denver, he landed himself another gig in much sunnier confines. The Miami Dolphins nabbed Nolan to lead their defense yesterday ending the shortest period of unemployment in the history of the free market.

Nolan’s exit from Denver was swift and mysterious. He led a unit that finished 12th in points allowed, 7th in total yards and 3rd against the pass. Respectable numbers in the eyes of most head coaches. Unless that coach is wunderkind Josh McDaniels.

Joshy boy feels that a quality defense is for chumps. So are franchise quarterbacks and stud wide receivers. The longstanding belief that talent wins in the NFL is not one shared by McDaniels. It’s hard to argue with him. I mean he did lose eight of his last ten games, so he’s obviously a genius.

I bet McDaniels has a lot of mirrors in his house. That way he can admire himself adoringly no matter what room he happens to be in. Douchebags with massive egos need lots of self-assurance. Or so I’m told.
