The Los Angeles Dodgers won their third straight game on Tuesday night with an 8-2 beating of the struggling Colorado Rockies. Since losing to the Marlins on Saturday night when a small fire broke out at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers have scored 23 runs over their past three games. They had scored only 25 over their previous nine games.

Matt Kemp provided most of the offense on Tuesday with four RBI, including a first-inning two-run homer. Ted Lilly had a season-high eight strikeouts while limiting the Rockies to two runs and four hits over seven innings to earn the win. Now 4-4 on the season, Lilly thinks this might be the real Dodgers finally showing up. “I don’t think this is necessarily a hot streak,” said the 25-year-old pitcher. “I think we’re pretty good.”

Meanwhile, the Rockies have lost three straight and 10 of their last 12. But Colorado’s awfulness doesn’t end there, the Rockies won just 8 of 29 games in May, and since opening the season 9-2, the Rockies are 14-27. It’s been a month to forget, and that’s the plan according to outfielder Carlos Gonzalez. “We just have to forget about it and put this month behind us,” said Gonzalez. “We still have a lot of trust in each other. We’re definitely going through a bad moment, but we have faith we’re going to turn the page.

The Dodgers will try for a three-game sweep of the Rockies on Wednesday night, with Jon Garland on the mound for LA and Ubaldo Jimenez going for Colorado. The Rockies are 1-11 in Jimenez’s last 12 starts dating back to last year.
