Devil Rays Burglarized, Think They May Know Who Did It

Tampa Bay Devil Rays stars Evan Longoria, David Price and Reid Brignac have been sharing a rental house during spring training, and came home from a day exhibition game on Saturday to find that the place had been ransacked by thieves. Price estimates he lost $50,000 worth of stuff, mostly in expensive watches, but the bandits also made off with a 60-inch flat screen television, three iPads and two Xboxes.

From the St. Petersburg Times:

The players praised the response and the efforts of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and said they were told there were several good leads, possibly some people who had stopped at the house earlier in the week to ask if it was to be available for rent and who the players told they were moving out soon.

Somebody robs a house in the middle of the day on a Saturday indicates that the robber(s) clearly knew that members of the Devil Rays were staying there,” writes Cork Gaines of Rays Index.

Longoria also had a 1967 Camaro stolen earlier this spring. Still, Longoria was looking on the bright side after this latest theft. “Everybody was okay and safe, and nobody had to fight their way out of a home invasion robbery,” said the superstar third baseman. “A multitude of different things could have happened, and there could have been people injured.”
