Deion Bets Roy Williams Will Suck Less In 2010

One of the loudest players in NFL history, Deion Sanders somehow got to talking about gambling and the Dallas Cowboys on ESPN recently.  When the conversation turned to wide receiver Roy Williams, who the Cowboys wasted two first round picks on in a trade with Detroit, Deion said that one more bad year would probably put Williams out of the NFL.  However Neon Deion says he’s willing to bet that the pressure of not getting another contract, coupled with more single coverage, will allow Williams to put up good numbers in 2010.

Prime Time explains his wager:

You know why I’m betting on him this year? Because his back is against the wall, he has to perform and I think he has that inside of him that knows, ‘Man, if I don’t do it, this is it. This may be the end of my career.’ … He’s going to be on the backside of the double teams that probably wide receiver Miles [Austin] will warrant or [tight end Jason] Witten will warrant, and he’s going to have to win one-on-ones. But I’m betting this year he’s going to win it … because he knows this could be it.

The Cowboys will be paying Williams $9 million this year. In 25 games with the Cowboys, Williams has only caught 57 balls for 796 yards and 8 touchdowns.
