Half of Cuban Field Hockey Team defects at Pan Am Games

It’s no wonder the Cuban men’s field hockey team was smoked 13-0 by Trinidad and Tobago during the current Pan Am Games in Toronto Canada. Half of them didn’t show up for the match as they all defected to the United States. They weren’t the only Cubans to defect during the event either, as four rowers also defected earlier on in the week. Sources stated that eight members of the 16-man field hockey team fled the country while one of the members said just seven of them took off.

With half of the team going AWOL, Cuba managed to field just eight players for the game against Trinidad. This means they played three men short for the contest as a team is made up of 11 players along with five more on the substitute’s bench. All eight players had to play the entire game, but at least they showed up for the fans instead of mailing the game in and losing it by default.

Cops open fire on vehicle at Tour de France

Police in Paris were looking for four occupants of a vehicle which tried to crash through a barricade before the final stage of the Tour de France on July 26. The incident saw police open fire on the car just a few hours before fans and cyclists arrived in the area. Police said they didn’t believe it was a terrorist-related event, but one wonders why then did they open fire on the vehicle. The car was found later in the day close to the Place de la Concorde with bullet holes in it.

Authorities released a statement which said, “This is a minor incident. It wasn’t aimed at the Tour de France, it’s not terrorism. It’s just a simple refusal to comply, as there are many every day.”

C.J. Wilson plans future return to NFL after two fingers blown off

It’s hard to play American football with just eight fingers, but that’s what C.J. Wilson of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers plans on doing once his recent hand injury has healed. The cornerback recently lost two of his fingers in a fireworks accident on the American Fourth of July holiday. Wilson realizes he won’t be ready to play when the upcoming 2015 season kicks off, but he plans on returning to the NFL at a later date.

Wilson just released a press statement which said he’ll be taking some time off from his football career in the immediate future while he recovers. The statement was released through his agents and it said, “On behalf of C.J. Wilson, he has decided to step away from the NFL at this time to focus on his immediate needs in recovery which are the foundation of his long-term health. When CJ is fully healed and able to return to the game, he will then continue his career at that time.”

WWE Dumps Hulk Hogan

Pro wrestling legend and sometime TV star Hulk Hogan has been dumped the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) due to some bad language he used almost a decade ago. Hogan used a racial slur and it was caught on tape and now he’s paying for it. Hogan has since apologized for the remarks, but the WWE has apparently cut all ties with him and no longer sells Hulk Hogan merchandise etc.

Hogan, whose birth name is Terry Bollea, has been backed by several notable people such as former world heavyweight boxing George Foreman, who said Hogan made a mistake by the choice of words he used, but he’s not a racist. Former NBA star Dennis Rodman also came out publicly and said the same thing.
