Aftermath of the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight

Unfortunately for most boxing fans, all of the action and drama regarding the Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. ‘Fight of the Century’ last weekend has come after the bout and outside of the ring. The consensus from most experts and fans who paid to watch the contest is that it definitely wasn’t worth the money and didn’t live up to the hype at all. In case you’ve been living in cave for the last week or so, Mayweather won the outing by unanimous decision by scores of 118-110, 116-112 and 116-12.

After the fight Pacquiao revealed that he had a torn right rotator cuff and it needed surgery. He planned on fighting with the injury as he figured on taking a legal shot to kill the pain before the bout. However, he failed to list the injury on the pre-fight medical questionnaire. And even though the painkiller he planned to take was approved by the USADA, the Nevada State Athletic Commission refused to let him take it due to the simple clerical error on the questionnaire.

Former NHL player Deveaux attacks opponent in warm-up and calls it “Self Defence”

Incredibly, a former NHL goon named Andre Deveaux has come out and told the media that his cowardly attack on an unsuspecting opponent during a pre-game warm up was made in self defence. The attack took place prior to a playoff game in Sweden back in March and unbeknownst to Deveaux a fan caught it all on video. Those who saw the film of the brutal attack were sickened by it and many called it the worst they had ever seen.

Deveaux skated across the ice from his players’ bench and attacked opponent Per Helmersson, who was simply standing on the ice with his back to Deveaux. The former NHL player, who was born in Freeport, Bahamas, then took his stick and pulled it back as if he was about to take a swing at a golf ball and slashed the Swedish defencemen on the ankle. He then punched the defenseless opponent in the back of the head and jumped on top of him while he fell to the ice.

Real Madrid still the world’s most valuable soccer club

According to Forbes’ annual list, Real Madrid is once again the most valuable soccer team in the world. However, Spanish la Liga arch rivals Barcelona are narrowing the gap. Madrid, the current European champions, tops this list for the third year in a row. Forbes also states that the 20 most valuable clubs have all seen their value rise by 11 per cent on average over the past 12 months. But oddly enough, Madrid’s value actually fell by five per cent.

Still, they topped the table and also raked in a revenue of $746 million, which is the most of any sports club on the globe. Madrid’s value was listed at $3.26 billion and was followed close behind by Barcelona at $3.16 billion, which is just $100 million behind. Manchester United of the English Premier League ranked third with an estimated value of $3.10 billion. There’s a good chance that figure should rise next year since it looks like United will be back in the European Champions League in the 2015/16 season.

MLB history made when Orioles/White Sox game held in empty stadium

With the recent riots in Baltimore, Maryland, Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles cancelled a couple of games at Camden Yards and decided to play them on the road, but they also ended up playing their regularly scheduled game on April 29 in an empty stadium. Officials didn’t want to risk the fans’ safety and shut the ball park to the fans as the Orioles took on the Chicago White Sox. John Thorn, the official historian of MLB, said it was the first time ever in MLB history that fans weren’t allowed to watch a game. However, there have been a couple of minor league contests which banned fans as part of a promotion.
