Jordan Spieth equals Masters record

Twenty-one-year-old golfer Jordan Spieth of Dallas, Texas won the Masters golf tournament in fine fashion in Augusta, Georgia on April 12 as he finished the event with an 18 under par 270. The score ties the record set by Tiger Woods back in 1997 and Spieth ended up winning the green jacket tournament by four strokes over Justin Rose of England and Phil Mickelson of America. Spieth wert into the fourth and final round with a four-shot lead and that was all he needed to ensure the victory.

Woods was also just 21 years old when he won the Masters for his first major with a score of -18,but was just a few months younger than Spieth. Woods has won the Masters four times during his career, but he never led the event from wire to wire like Spieth did. Spieth is now the fifth player to lead the tournament from start to finish and the first to achieve the feat since 1976 when Raymond Floyd did it. He got off to a great start in the first round by shooting an eight-under 64 and he never looked back.

Average Major League Baseball salary reaches $4.25 million

The average salary for a MLB player in 2014 will break the $4 million mark for the very first time. While some players such as Los Angeles Dodgers ace pitcher will carry the load with contracts such as $31 million a season, their megadeals help to push up the average even though some players will be making nowhere near $4 million. The Associated Press recently performed a study and came up with the numbers.

MLB clubs are dishing out more than ever on salaries this year due to their new TV broadcasting deal. The average salary in 2015 is pegged at $4.25 million this year while it was just $3.65 million in 2013. In addition, millionaire baseball players will receive $100.50 each day they’re on the road in meal money. This can be quite costly to MLB teams since they each play 162 games a season with half of them coming on the road.

NHL records set with four goals in 49 seconds

A new NHL scoring record was set on Friday, April 3 when four goals were scored in just 49 seconds of play. The new mark was set during a Western Conference game between the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The old mark for the fastest four goals in a game by both teams was set back in 1983 in a clash between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks. Those two sides managed to achieve the feat in 53 seconds. However, while St. Louis and Dallas shaved four seconds off the old record, they did it over two different periods.

Brazilian soccer player Fabricio loses it on own fans

Left-back Fabricio of Brazilian First Division soccer team Internacional recently lost it on his own fans during a game and has now been suspended by the club. The player has been suspended indefinitely due to his meltdown in a 1-0 win against Ypiranga during the Rio Grande do Sul state championship in early April. The club also announced that it will soon decide on his future with the team.

Home fans in the city of Porto Alegre were jeering the player throughout the contests and he suddenly stopped playing halfway through the second half and began to make several obscene gestures to the fans sitting nearest to the pitch. The referee then immediately sent the 28-year-old off the pitch with a red card as a result if his gestures. This angered Fabricio even more and he took his team shirt off and threw it onto the ground as several of his teammates tried to calm him down.
