English soccer club blocks entire country of Hungary from its Facebook page

English League One soccer team Notts County, who are based in the city of Nottingham, recently blocked the entire nation of Hungary from its Facebook page. The team just signed 24-year-old Hungarian striker Balint Bajner from Ipswich Town of the English Championship League during the January transfer window and its Facebook page was overran with comments. Bajner played in just five games with Ipswich and that team’s Facebook page was swamped back in August when the player was dropped from the lineup. Hungarian fans visited the page and thousands of them left the comment, “No Bajner, no party!”

Top EPL teams embarrass themselves in FA Cup

Manchester United appeared to be the laughingstock of the soccer world on Friday night (Jan. 23) when the famous English club was held to a 0-0 draw in Cambridge by lowly Cambridge United. Man United went into the match in fourth place in the Premier League while Cambridge sat 76 positions below them in 12th place in League Two, which is the fourth tier of professional football in the country. Since there are 92 pro clubs in the land, we saw Man United ranked at number four, being held by the 80th-ranked side. In addition, Man United has won the English championship a total of 20 times in their history as well as 11 FA Cups. This is Cambridge’s first season back in England’s top-92 after spending the past two campaigns in non-league football.

Inmate attempts to sue NFL for $88 billion over reversed decision

NFL fans will be familiar with the infamous Dez Bryant catch/no catch incident during the Dallas Cowboys vs Green Bay Packers divisional playoff encounter which took place back on Jan, 11th. Wide receiver Bryant of the Cowboys was ruled to have made a catch on a late fourth-down pass, but the call was overturned after Packers’ head coach Mike McCarthy challenged it. Many fans felt it should have been ruled a catch, but according to a badly-written NFL, it looks like the officials technically made the right call.

The Packers ended up winning the NFC contest 26-21, but were then ousted out of the postseason a week later by the defending Super Bowl champions the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle will now meet the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl in Arizona on Feb. 1. One fan who isn’t happy with the ruling on Bryant’s incomplete pass is a man named Terry Hendrix, who just happens to be an inmate at the Fremont Correctional Facility in Canon City, in the state of Colorado.

Klay Thompson sets NBA record with 37 points in a quarter

Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors was red hot for 12 minutes in his team’s 126-101 win over the Sacramento Kings on January 23rd and his play earned him a spot in the NBA record book. Thompson racked up 37 points in a quarter when he went 13 for 13 in shooting, and included nine three-pointers, which is also a new league record for a quarter. He also added a couple of three throws into the mix during the third-quarter outburst.

Thompson wasn’t too bad during the rest of the contest either as he finished it with 52 points, for his new career high in front of close to 20,000 fans at the Oracle Arena. The win improved the Warriors record to 35-6 on the season as the team proved once again that it’s one of the best in the league. The victory was Golden State’s 18th in a row at home, which sets a new franchise record. The club also became the 10th in league history to win 35 games by the halfway mark of a season.
