And we all thought rock stars were picky when it came to exotic demands in their contracts. However, compared the NFL they seem to be quite easy to please. With the 2018 Super Bowl scheduled to take place in Minneapolis in a brand new $975 million stadium which is to be built in 2016, the National Football League has already handed the city 154 pages of demands.
A lot of the demands aren’t very surprising. For example, the stadium needs to seat at least 70,000 fans, the playing surface needs to meet specifications, and the lighting has to be a certain brightness etc. But the NFL is also asking for three top-class golf courses and a pair of bowling alleys for its officials. It also wants 20 free colour pages of advertising in local daily newspapers, free advertising on the radio and for the team hotels to push the NFL Network on its guests a in the 12 month period before the big game.
The Cameroon national football team refused to board their plane in Yaoundé on June 8 as the players were scheduled to fly out from Africa to Brazil to take part in the 2014 World Cup from June 12 to July 13. The squad has been involved in a dispute over money for the last few weeks and held their ground when it came time to head onboard.
The players said they’re not happy with the bonuses that have been promised to them for the event. They’re scheduled to play a match against Mexico on Friday June 13 as they’ve been placed in Group A along with Brazil, Croatia, and the Mexicans. Players such as Barcelona defender Alex Song and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o are on the squad which has been disputing their bonuses since they were announced in May.
Sam Bennett is a 17-year-old center who plays for the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and is the top-ranked North American player in the upcoming NHL Draft on June 27. He scored 36 goals and added 55 assists this season for 91 points in 57 league games. However, he may now become famous for the number one. This is because the hockey player couldn’t manage even one single pull-up at the NHL’s recent Combine training facility.
This is a bit hard to believe considering that 99 per cent of kids can get through at least one pull-up while fooling around on the Monkey Bars at the local playground. The Combine is an annual event where most of the players ranked by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau are invited to a mini training camp. This allows the 30 NHL clubs to watch them workout physically and then test them out mentally with one-on-one interviews.
The Stanley Cup Final showdown is all set to go when the puck drops on June 4 for game one of the best-of-seven series at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. This season’s battle features the east coast vs the west as it’s the New York Rangers up against the Los Angeles Kings. However, in a bit of a cruel twist of fate, it’ll be cheaper for Rangers fans to fly all the way across America to watch their team play out in LA.
The reason for this is basically because all seats at New York’s famous Madison Square Garden are sold out and the only way to land a single or pair is to visit one of the notorious re-selling sites on the internet. Of course, these businesses often make loan-sharking look legitimate since they jack up the prices by as much as 10 times a ticket’s face value.
