In the wake of the absurdly unjust suspensions handed down to the New Orleans Saints for bounty-gate, former NFL defensive tackle turned NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp thinks he’s outed the snitch responsible for the whole scandal: former Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey. The golden-locked Shockey has adamantly denied that he was responsible for letting the bounty cat out of the bag.
In a twitter response to Sapp, Shockey tweeted “my ass!! I don’t even play defense! Haha.” He also added, “There’s nothing I can say that will take people’s opinion away, but I don’t have to defend myself.”
Michael Strahan, Shockey’s former teammate with the New York Giants and like Sapp now a TV analyst, came to Shockey’s Twitter defense, tweeting “that shoe doesn’t even fit Shockey!”
It’s been less than 24 hours since backup quarterback extraordinaire Tim Tebow was acquired by the New York Jets, and already there are four prop bets available on how Tebow will perform in his first season in Jersey. Oddsmakers think Tebow probably won’t start any games at quarterback for the Jets this season, but should find the end zone on the ground and through the air.
Here are your 2012 Tim Tebow New York Jets Over/Unders:
- Starts At Quarterback for the Jets in the 2012 Regular Season: 0.5 (Over -150, Under +110)
- Rushing TD’s in the 2012 Regular Season: 4 (O -115, U -115)
- Total Passing TD’s in the 2012 Regular Season: 1 (O -115, U -115)
- Passes Caught By Tim Tebow or Mark Sanchez in the 2012 Regular Season: 0.5 (O -140, U EVEN)
Two major stories shook the NFL universe on Wednesday: the Denver Broncos traded charismatic quarterback Tim Tebow to the New York Jets, and the NFL shockrageously suspended New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton for the entire 2012 season. Obviously the Saints punishment is shockingly excessive, but who’s worth more a head coach or a Jesus-y backup QB?
I’d argue neither has that much of an impact. Good teams win regardless of who’s head coach — that’s how George Seifert and Barry Switzer call themselves Super Bowl-winning head coaches. Add to that the Saints playing with an extra chip on their shoulder for feeling singled out, and the Saints might do even better this year than they would have.
Everything is bigger in Texas – including the fight cards. Bellator Fighting Championships returns to The Lone Star State on Friday, March 23rd with a completely stacked night of fights at Bellator 62 from the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas. The night will feature the long-awaited rematch between “The American Soldier” Eric Prindle (@EricPrindleMMA) and Thiago “Big Monster” Santos (@BigMonsterMMA) to determine a winner from last season’s heavyweight tournament. The night’s main event, which was originally scheduled for Bellator 61 on March 16, was moved to this Friday because of a commission mandate due to Prindle battling flu-like symptoms. Despite the minor setback, “The American Soldier” is itching to not only get his hands on Santos, but to get that heavyweight gold.
“I’m just ready to get into the cage and end this,” Prindle said. “I’m a warrior and want my shot against Konrad.”
