Capitals Beat Bruins in Shootout

The Washington Capitals blew a late 2-0 lead, but eked out a much-needed shootout victory on the road against the Boston Bruins on Thursday night. The defending Stanley Cup champion Bruins could have clinched a playoff spot with a win, while the Capitals moved into a tie for the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot with the victory, although they have played one more game than the Buffalo Sabres.

Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas had a chance to win the game in the shootout, but couldn’t stop Washington’s Alex Semin in the third round. “I was very surprised because I thought I won the game on Semin’s, to be honest with you,” said Thomas after the loss. “Where he got the shot off from, 98 percent of the time the guy’s going to miss the net from there. If he didn’t have that funky curve, he couldn’t do what he did.” Washington’s Brooks Laich then beat Thomas for the game-winner in the next round.

Cespedes Homer Helps A’s Beat Mariners in Japan Finale

Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes hit his first major league homer in the seventh inning of Thursday morning’s game against the Seattle Mariners at the Tokyo Dome, giving the Oakland A’s a lead they would never relinquish as they earned a split of the two-game season-opening series. Baseball’s regular season now resumes its hibernation until next Wednesday, with all 30 teams at .500.

Oakland manager Bob Melvin said it was important that baseball sent two of it’s crappiest teams to play two real games in Japan because of last year’s tragic tsunami. “The main reason we came here was because of the tsunami,” said Melvin. “I know MLB has been coming every four years, but the tsunami made this trip happen for sure.”

Tiger Woods Mistesses Star In Adult Film; Swing Coach Talks Putts

Hank Haney, former longtime swing coach of Tiger Woods, has a tell-all book coming out about his time with the world’s most famous golfer with the release timed to come just before The Masters. Haney’s not the only one from Tiger’s past with a big pre-Masters tell-all release: three of Tiger’s former mistresses are giving graphic blow-by-blow discussions of what they did with Tiger in a new adult film.

“Any time you can get three women to sit down together to talk about the same guy the results are going to be more than interesting,” said B. Skow, director of the new adult film “3 Mistresses: Notorious Tales of the World’s Greatest Golfer,” which also features graphic reenactments of what the three ladies discuss. “These women also happen to have sex for a living, and so if they’ve been with the same guy, you can be sure they’ll share absolutely everything.”
