The March 3rd title fight between Strikeforce bantamweight champion Miesha Tate and challenger Ronda Rousey gets more interesting by the day. It’s crystal clear that these two have a growing dislike for each other, and even hatred might not be too strong a word.
Rousey spoke with TapouT Magazine about the upcoming matchup, and again had some harsh words for the champion.
You can watch the Tate vs. Rousey fight on March 3rd on Showtime.
Phil Mickelson thoroughly outplayed Tiger Woods on Sunday to win the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The two rivals were grouped together in Sunday’s final round, with Tiger starting the day in third place and Mickelson in fourth. Mickelson was on his game with a final-round 64 and Tiger was not, making five bogeys in a dismal round of 75 and falling into a tie for 15th place.
According to Mickelson’s wife, just finding out on Saturday night that he would be paired with Tiger was enough to get Phil all fired up. “I know he wanted that pairing, let’s put it that way,” said Amy Mickelson. “He loves to play with Tiger. They have a history. I’m sure Tiger wanted it too, or I would guess he did. They’re competitors. I think they enjoy it.”
Fun Size vs. Dude may sound like a cartoon, but it’s the Bellator Bantamweight Title Fight between Zach Makovsky and Eduardo Dantas.
After a spectacular run through the Bellator Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament, Eduardo “Dudu” Dantas (@Dudantas22) has earned his world title shot. With victories over Wilson Reis, Ed West and the explosive Olympian Alexis Vila, Dantas is just a win away from becoming a World Champion when he battles reigning Bellator Bantamweight world Champion Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky (@ZachFunSize) on Friday, April 13 from Atlantic City’s historic Boardwalk Hall.
“Our bantamweight division has been electrifying and has provided some of the best Bellator moments,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Zach and Eduardo are two of the greatest bantamweights in MMA today so this should be a really spectacular fight. We always have a packed house whenever we head out to Atlantic City, and I expect nothing less on April 13.”
There have been plenty of rumors that Peyton Manning will be cut by the Indianapolis Colts, and one of his most talked-about landing spots has been the Washington Redskins. Not many people have said it would be a bad idea for the Redskins, who were 6-10 last year (although 2-0 against the New York Giants), but finally one of the most successful Redskins quarterbacks ever is telling it like it is.
“It’s not a good idea, it’s not a bad idea — it’s a horrific idea,” said Joe Theismann, who like Peyton Manning won one Super Bowl and appeared in another. “It would be one of the poorest things that we could do as a franchise. Are we gonna go find another guy for just a couple of years again? Haven’t we done this before? Haven’t we seen this act before? We’re tired of looking for stopgaps. It’s time to draft one of your own, or make a deal for a young one of your own and nurture him, and then put the players around him.”
