After 16 teams battled it out in the NBA playoffs, there are only two teams left standing as Dirk Nowitzki’s Dallas Mavericks and LeBron James’ Miami Heat are set to go head-to-head in what could be an epic NBA Finals matchup that could very well go the full seven games like last year’s NBA Finals did with the Los Angeles Lakers getting the best of the arch rival Boston Celtics in Game 7.
Unlike last year’s NBA Finals, there is no real bad blood or rivalry between the Heat and the Mavs as both teams just have their eyes on the prize. With the exception of Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem, the rest of the players on both of these teams will be looking to win their first NBA title in what could be their crowning achievement.
The Houston Rockets were one of the many teams in the NBA that would be on the lookout for a new head coach before next season, but despite having the entire summer and possibly the months to follow pending an NBA lockout, the franchise have already made a decision and hired a new head coach.
There was no shortage of head coaching candidates for the Houston Rockets as they were considering people like Mike Brown (current Lakers’ head coach), Brian Shaw (former Lakers’ assistant coach), Dwane Casey (Dallas Mavericks’ assistant coach) and Lawrence Frank (Celtics’ assistant coach), but they have decided to go with former Minnesota Timerwolves GM and head coach Kevin McHale.
The Vancouver Canucks will represent the Western Conference in the Stanley Cup Finals, and on Friday night we’ll find out who will represent the East as the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning put it all on the line in a Game 7 in Boston. The Bruins are -155 betting favorites, but the Eastern Conference Finals have been a roller coaster that makes the final game awfully tough to call.
The Bruins have won the last two games in Boston after losing badly in the first game of the series, and they also won a home Game 7 in the first round. “We went through this in the first round against Montreal,” said Bruins coach Claude Julien. “They’re one of our biggest rivals, and going into a Game 7 with them at home. We know how, if we had not won, how things would’ve turned out. And we came out and responded well. There’s no reason that tomorrow’s not again the same thing.”
The card for UFC 130 has changed early and often, but now it’s set. Here are our free picks for UFC 130: Rampage vs. Hamill.
Rampage Jackson -350 vs. Matt Hamill +250
This is only Rampage’s 4th fight since the beginning of 2009. He often talks about retirement and moving full-time to “acting”. How much is his heart in this? Not fully, that’s for sure. Hamill still hungers for a title shot and is a full-time fighter. He also is tremendously strong and will repeatedly take down Rampage and ground and pound his way to a win. Take Hamill +250
Frank Mir -115 vs. Roy Nelson -115
