Saturday is going to be a great day for sports betting enthusiasts with a full card of hoops, hockey and baseball along with the Kentucky Derby. Capping off the action will be what promises to be a very entertaining fight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley. In addition to being a couple of my favorite fighters, these guys are two of the best.
This fight became Mayweather’s ‘plan b’ after negotiations to fight Manny Pacquiao broke down. At least that’s the ‘party line’, but I’m of the opinion that the delay in putting together the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight was by design with both sides thinking that the bout would be much more lucrative with more buildup and another fight for each man. Should Mayweather beat Mosley, you can start making plans for a trip to Las Vegas this fall to watch him take on Pacquiao.
Ever since 2003, the NBA has been chalk full of talent as we saw superstars like Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony and most notably LeBron James emerge as the new elite class of player in the league.
Only one of these four players have actually won an NBA title during their short time in the league and Dwyane Wade was able to lead his Miami Heat to their first NBA title in franchise history in 2006 against the Dallas Mavericks. Despite Bosh, Anthony and LeBron not being able to win that elusive NBA title, all three of these players have completely turn around their franchise’s and will be forces to be reckoned with in they decide to call it a career.
Even though Dwyane Wade has the ring, LeBron James has the best team and is arguably the best all around players and as a result has won two straight NBA MVP awards.
The Kentucky Oaks is in the books, and the favorite Blind Luck took the lillies as she came from dead last in the field to catch Evening Jewel at the wire. It was a photo finish, with Blind Luck winning by a nose in the 136th running of the Kentucky Oaks. The Oaks is the traditional Friday ‘warm up act’ for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, and Blind Luck’s win in the 1 1/8 mile Grade 1 stakes race for three year old fillies earned her owners a cool half million dollars.
Sports betting enthusiasts are preparing for a huge weekend with countless wagering opportunities in a myriad of sports. Of particular interest is Saturday’s Kentucky Derby and an excellent boxing match between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Shane Mosley. We’ll have our analysis and selections on both events later tonight, as well as all of the hoops, hockey, baseball and even some soccer throughout the weekend. We’ll get it started with a good looking baseball betting opportunity for Friday night as the San Diego Padres host the Milwaukee Brewers. Our picture today is from the ‘Petco Unleashed National Chihuahua Races’, which is an annual event held between innings at a Padres game. If this dog had opposable thumbs, he’d probably have been picked in the NFL draft last week.
