NFL Fantasy Sleepers Week 17
Quarterback
Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos will be fighting for their playoff lives this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs as they need to win this game and have a few other games decide their fate. Regardless of the outcome, I fully expect the Broncos to be on their A game in week 17 against the Chiefs.
As a result, quarterback Kyle Orton should have a big game connecting with Brandon Marshall all day long!
Running Back
Reggie Bush, New Orleans Saints
This week is pretty pointless for the New Orleans Saints and they will look to rest a good majority of their starters, especially running back Pierre Thomas who is a little banged up right now with an ailing rib injury.
NFL Locks of the Week
Chicago Bears +3 over the Detroit Lions
Last week on Monday night football Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears surprised everyone as they gave the Minnesota Vikings and company a run for their money.
Not only did Jay Cutler have arguably his best game of the season with 273 yards, four touchdown passes and just one interception, but the Bears defense seemed to be on their game as well as they were forcing fumbles and dominated the potent Vikings offense in the first half.
This week Jay Cutler and company will be looking to keep a good thing going as they go up against the lowly Detroit Lions who will be without quarterback Matthew Stafford.
I really can’t see anyway the Bears can lose this game unless Jay Cutler gets back to his interception throwing ways.
It has been a rough couple of weeks for the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers as they have suffered some disappointing losses as of late to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Pacific division rival Phoenix Suns, but in an effort to rebound from those losses the Lakers came into their showdown with ex-Laker Ronny Turiaf and the Golden State Warriors looking to prove they are still the best team in the NBA this season.
Just like any defending champ in any sport, the minute the team starts to slip in their title defense, even slightly, the media will immediately start to turn on them and ask a lot of questions on whether or not they have what it takes to repeat.
Amidst the messed up situation at Texas Tech, coach Mike Leach has been fired. Big surprise.
Looks like the school decided they’d lose more money in potential students who would rather get their education elsewhere than be locked in a utility closet, than the $400,000 a year (for the next four years) they’ll be paying their former head coach.
The school forked over a termination letter to Ted Liggett, Leach’s attorney, on Wednesday just before the two sides were to appear in court for a hearing on the coach’s suspension, which he was hoping would result in his allowance to be on the sidelines for Saturday’s Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.
