1. New Orleans Saints (-9) Thirty-six points in one half? Not bad. Twenty-two unanswered in the fourth quarter? Ridiculous. Momentum is hard to come by in the NFL, but if it’s possible, the Saints will ride it straight into Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons. They’re scoring 39.7 points per game for a total of 238 points this season. Hard to argue with numbers like that.
2. Indianapolis Colts (-11) Poster Boy Peyton Manning is enjoying some of the best performances of his career this season. That’s wonderful for the team as a whole, but it also means Indy’s defense is getting no love. They’re giving up just 12.8 points a game, which is generally not enough for an opposing team victory… especially in the case of the 49ers.
3. Denver Broncos (+3.5) Rookie head coach Josh McDaniels allowed his team five days of rest after their sixth straight win Sunday, which should leave them well rested enough to take on the Ravens in Baltimore.
I bet Larry Johnson feels pretty awesome about himself after issuing his second public apology within the last year.
The Kansas City Chiefs running back was ordered to steer clear of the team while the NFL completes their investigation into his use of a gay slur. A national gay rights advocacy organization was not impressed with his actions either, calling on not only the Chiefs organization, but the league to discipline the two-time Pro Bowler.
Sunday night he questioned Todd Haley’s football-coaching skills via his Twitter account, which (surprise!) is now private:
A day later, he used the same slur as he brushed off reporters and refused to comment.
“I’m not talking till Thursday. Get your faggot ass out of here.”
Remember last year when some lady accused him of throwing a drink on her and then another woman said he pushed her? The apologies sounded eerily similar. You know, “we all make mistakes, I’m a sucky role model, etc.”

As mundane as it may seem, there are some outstanding early season NHL betting trends coming from a place you might least expect: the whistle-blowing losers in the striped shirts.
As hockey fans we do our best in trying to ignore the referees, their inflated egos and their terrible calls, but when throwing down on the NHL, it’s imperative that you check who’s officiating any game in which you may have betting interest.
Over / Under bets can go from a hunch with some statistical backup to a near sure thing when looking at that night’s refereeing crew. Some refs call more penalties than others which leads to more power play opportunities, which leads to more goals. Pretty simple actually. If we know that a certain official likes to call a tight game, then we know that both teams are going to have a fistful of man advantage situations throughout the game. Conversely, refs who “let ‘em play” will not yield such power play chances and are prone to low scoring affairs.
Rampage Jackson is running his mouth again. In his latest blog post, he disrespects the UFC and says they need to get some new judges before he even thinks about coming back. The title of that post? “UFC looked like a**holes“. Some highlights:
On Machida and UFC 104: “I was watching the fight this weekend with the director of the A Team movie, the movie crew & a couple of actors & I never been ashamed to be a part of MMA till now. The UFC looked like assholes this weekend. The main event was boring. I anticipated that because let’s be real.. Machida is a boring fighter. But Shogun getting robbed like that was pretty cut throat. Then you hear Joe Rogan say you “you have to beat the champ to be a champ.” & that made me think the UFC are full of shit! Not to be whiny here but I still don’t feel like I’ve been beat in the UFC.. but I’m not champ anymore.”
The Eagles will look to rebound after a very disappointing loss to the Oakland Raiders in week six and the Redskins will just try to get a win to get the heat off head coach Jim Zorn. The Redskins have been awful this season and a win over their divisional opponent will give the team something positive to work off for the rest of the season.
