In an interview with Nova TV, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic says he will be fighting in the UFC in February.
Cro Cop is 3-2 since coming back to the UFC. He has victories over Mustapha Al Turk, Anthony Perosh and Pat Barry. The Barry fight was the most impressive performance, a three round war that ended when Cro Cop choked out Barry with just 30 seconds remaining.
Cro Cop was knocked out by Junior Dos Santos and then looked absolutely horrible in his last fight at UFC 119 against Frank Mir. Cro Cop has been contemplating retirement but according to the interview he’s finally healthy and will be better than the 2006 version, when he beat Wanderlei Silva and Josh Barnett.
It’s a far-fetched idea that at age 36 Cro Cop will be better than he was in his Pride glory days. But it will definitely be great to see him in the Octagon in February. The main question now is whether he will get a top contender, or be a measuring stick for up and comers.
