Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Mets Prediction

Cincinnati Reds (48-36) @ New York Mets (46-37)

Date: Wednesday July 7th, 2010

Time: 7:10 pm EST

Preview: The first place Cincinnati Reds will look to keep their hot streak going as they roll into Citi Field to take on the New York Mets. Cincinnati won the opening game of the series Monday night 8-6. The Reds come into Tuesday’s action, two games ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals for first place in the National League Central. The Reds have used a .277 batting average, and 104 homeruns (both ranked 3rd in all of baseball) to aide to their success. The pitching has improved of late, but still hold a 4.28 earned run average. That places them 20th in MLB. Joey Votto using his All Star game snub as motivation, blasted two homeruns in the win Monday night. Votto now has 21 homeruns, 59 runs batted in and a .318 batting average. All of those offensive numbers lead the team. Veteran Bronson Arroyo will take the mound for Cincinnati. The 33 year old is coming off a solid outing against the Cubs, where he pitched six innings, allowing just two hits and no runs in 12-0 shelling of Chicago. Arroyo is 94-87 in his career.

The Mets, who boast a 28-13 home record will send Jonathan Niese to the mound. Niese has won 8 games in his career, with 6 coming this season. The 23 year old from Ohio went 7 innings in his last start against the Nationals. He took the win as the Mets won 6-2. New York has been led by the offensive prowess of David Wright. Wright leads the team with a .317 batting average, 14 homeruns and 64 runs batted in.

Our prediction for this one: The Mets play well at home and win. New York 7-5. You can bet on this game at the US friendly sportsbook BetUS.
