Chris Paul Out for One to Two Months with Knee Injury

At the beginning of this NBA season, the New Orleans Hornets went through some rough times as the organization had to go through some drastic changes. The Hornets started off the season winning only three out of their first 11 games which resulted in the firing of head coach Byron Scott. If that weren’t bad enough, Chris Paul had suffered an ankle injury which kept him out seven games, but fortunately, the Hornets played quite well in Paul’s absence by winning four out of those seven games.

Over the past few seasons, the New Orleans Hornets have arguably been one of the best teams in the Western Conference and quickly on the rise led by point guard Chris Paul who has been considered the best point guard in the league, but this season the team has taken a turn for the worst as they sit with the 26-21 record and third place standing in the Southwest division behind the first place Dallas Mavericks (30-17) and the second place San Antonio Spurs (27-19).

Being in third place in one of the most competitive division in the NBA in the Southwest isn’t all that bad, but with the news the Hornets got on Monday morning, New Orleans could be headed towards another rough patch which could knock them out of playoff contention in the West completely!

This morning the New Orleans Hornets learned that they will be without arguably their best player for one to two months as point guard Chris Paul has to undergo knee surgery.

The NBA season is at the half point right now as the NBA All-Star game draws near, so CP3 being out for a month or two doesn’t mean he is done for the year, but this is knee surgery we are talking about which can ultimately keep him out for the rest of the season if rehab doesn’t go well and there is always a good chance of that.

Without Paul in the lineup the New Orleans Hornets will struggle and will almost certainly start to drop down the standings in the Southwest division, but there is some hope as the Hornets do have a young point guard in Darren Collison out of UCLA ready to step in and get the job done.
