Hamilton Tiger-Cats (7-7) travel up the QEW tonight to play the Toronto Argonauts (7-7) in a game that is sure to be one of the biggest games of the entire CFL season. Both teams are tied in the East Division right now for 2nd place and the winner of this game will take over the sole lead. Since Hamilton has the tiebreaker over the Argonauts already locked up it makes the game slightly more important for the Argonauts.
Both teams managed to win last week, which kept them at a deadlock in the standings. Hamilton beat Edmonton 36-11 thanks in large part to the 3 TD passes from Glenn. Cobb ran the ball 16 times in the game for 1 TD, but was held to only 49 yards. The entire offence did a great job protecting the ball though, which ensured the Eskimos wouldn’t have short field opportunities. Arland Bruce was easily the best receiver on the Ti-Cats, as he caught 6 passes for 142 yards and 1 TD.
Toronto’s win wasn’t nearly as convincing last week, but they played a much better team in the Roughriders. The Argos ended up winning the game thanks to a great defensive performance in the 2nd half where they only gave up 4 points. Lemon was effective for the most part and completed 17 of 26 passes for 152 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. Boyd carried the ball 21 times, which was great for clock management and he also gained 131 yards. Boyd couldn’t find the endzone though and also committed a fumble.
The winner of this game will clinch a berth in the playoffs this season, so expect both teams to be extremely pumped up. Home field advantage gives an Argos a slight advantage, but not as much as normal since the Ti-Cats are only about an hours drive away. All of the Ti-Cats practices this week were shortened by the head coach, which means they should be well rested for the game. Missing practice time at this point in the season might prove to be a great idea or a horrible idea, but we should know by the 1st quarter based on how the Ti-Cats come out of the gates.

Predictions
This is definitely going to be a really close game tonight, but I think the Argonauts finally figure out the Ti-Cats. Toronto has beaten every team in the league except for Hamilton this season, as the Ti-Cats won the first 2 meetings. The last meeting between these two teams was filled with turnovers (5) by the Argonauts, so if they can limit their turnovers in this game they should have a much better shot at winning. I’ll take the Argonauts at home tonight to beat the Ti-Cats and be the 2nd team to clinch a playoff spot in the East Division.
Both games this season have gone under the total between these two teams, so most people will probably be on the under. I think this game has the potential for a shootout on offence, as both teams aren’t going to be sitting back. Both teams will pour everything they have into this game, as it can clinch a playoff spot, which will give players time to rest after this week. I expect both teams to score more then 20 points tonight and I’m hoping that at least one team can reach 30.
