B.C. Lions (5-9) will be playing against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-10) in the 2nd game today. It isn’t the match-up most Canadians wanted to be watching while they eat their turkey dinners, but it’s definitely better then no game. I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving today and having a great time watching the Alouettes beat-up on the Stampeders. This is a really important game for the Blue Bombers, as they can kiss their playoff chances goodbye if they lose today at home.
The Lions beat the Blue Bombers last week in a low scoring affair that featured great defence and plenty of FG’s. Hopefully today’s game proves to be a little more exciting then last week’s match-up or else we might be in for a snooze fest. Jyles completed 21 of 37 passing attempts last week for 258 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT while Lulay completed 21 of 33 passes for 237 yards. Both QB’s also ran the ball a few times although Lulay surprisingly won the running battle. Lulay ran the ball 9 times for 57 yards and 1 TD while Jyles ran the ball 2 times for 20 yards and 1 fumble.
Lulay will be playing again this week for the Lions, as Casey Printers will be sitting out again due to his ball control problems that he’s been dealing with this season. I’m not sure this is a great move by the Lions head coach, as there is no doubt in my opinion that Printers is the better QB. Winnipeg is also looking to shake things up this week after a disappointing performance by Jyles last week and they’ll be giving rookie QB Alex Brink a chance to display his ability. Playing on Thanksgiving is never an easy task in the CFL, but Brink’s seems like he’s ready to go out on the field and get a win for his team.

Predictions
Last week RB Reid gained 72 yards on 13 carries for the Bombers and he’ll need to try and break 100 today if he wants to help his team beat the Lions. B.C. couldn’t get anything going against Winnipeg last week in the running department and they’ll be relying on Lulay to move the ball downfield again. With a rookie QB getting the start for Winnipeg this week, I can’t understand why they’d be listed as favourites, but I’m going to bet on the Lions. Lulay needs to try and win as many games as possible while he’s given the chance or else he may not receive another shot after this season.
One thing that scares me a little is the fact the kicker McCallum is out for the Lions this week. If it’s going to be a game of FG’s I hope his replacement (Sean Whyte) can make good on his opportunities. Last week both these teams only scored 30 points and they probably won’t score much more then that this week. Lulay isn’t that impressive and this will be Brink’s first game in the CFL, so as long as he doesn’t turnover the ball that much I think it’ll be another low scoring game and I’ll be on the under.
