Edmonton Eskimos (2-9) play the Toronto Argonauts (6-5) today at the Rogers Centre. Toronto has a chance to take over 2nd place in the East Division after Hamilton lost on Saturday. Edmonton doesn’t look like they’re going to make the playoffs this season unless they can end the season with a long winning streak. A win today against Toronto would keep them in the hunt and only 1-game behind the Lions for the last playoff spot.
Toronto won 17-13 in a close game against the Blue Bombers last week, but they were lucky to win the game. The offence played horribly and will need to really improve if they want to be a playoff contender. Lemon only completed 14 passes for 90 yards. He did throw for a single TD, but also threw an INT. Boyd didn’t play last week and Johnson was given most of the carries. Johnson ended the game with 62 yards on 11 carries, which is good for over 5 yards every time he runs the ball on average.
Edmonton has lost their past 3 games and are running out of time to try and make a run in for the final playoff spot. Last week they lost 31-14 against the Alouettes and the game was never close with Montreal scoring 19 1st quarter points. Ricky Ray completed 14 of 29 passes for only 242 yards and 2 INT’s. The Eskimo RB’s only gained about 50 yards on the ground and will need to at least double that output if they expect to have a chance today in Toronto.
Toronto comes into this match-up today with a 4-0 record at home and they should be able to beat the Eskimos who are a league worst 5-0 on the road. Toronto hasn’t had a strong offence for the most part this season, but they still average more points per game then Edmonton does.
Betting Lines
Edmonton Eskimos vs. Toronto Argonauts –3.5
Edmonton Eskimos vs. Toronto Argonauts O/U 49
Betting Picks
Not only have the Argonauts played well at home this season and managed to win every game, but they’re also 4-1 ATS in their past 5 games when playing at the Rogers Centre. From looking at recent head-to-head match-ups you’ll also see that the Argos have a 5-2-1 ATS record in the last 8 meetings against the Eskimos. With all of the trends pointing towards the Argonauts today I’m going to have to ride with them at home, as they proven to be a great home team this year.
The over/under in the game is extremely low this week for a CFL game, but I can’t see these two teams going over 49 points. Both QB’s struggled to score last week and I can see the same thing happening this week. I can see the Argonauts winning a close game this week by the score of 24-17 or something similar.
My CFL Betting Picks: – Argonauts –3.5 & under 49
