Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-7) travel to Ontario today for a match-up against the Toronto Argonauts (5-5). As of right now these two teams are in the bottom of the East Division although the Argos can move back into a tie with Hamilton if they can win. Hamilton would still be winning the tiebreaker, but both teams would have a 6-5 record heading into week 13. Lemon needs to ensure that he’s prepared for the game this afternoon, as Toronto can’t afford to lose their 4th game in a row.

Toronto has lost their last 3 games now (2 against Hamilton, 1 against Lions) and don’t look anything like they looked like in the first few weeks of the season. The lost last week against the Lions (37-16) was extra painful and they need to bounce back against the last place team in the East this week. If the Argos lose this week they’ll allow Winnipeg to close the gap on them and would be really putting their playoff chances in the hands of other teams.

Winnipeg has been struggling this season due to their injuries, but they made a statement last week by beating up Saskatchewan by a score of 31-2. Jyles was extremely effective, as he completed 19 of 23 passes for 169 yards and 1 TD. He didn’t throw for 300+ yards, but he was very consistent and kept the chains moving the entire game. Blue Bombers RB Reid also played his best game of the season and ended up with 148 rushing yards and 2 TD’s on only 17 carries.

The Argonauts are going to need to put lots of people in the box this week to ensure that Reid can’t run wild against them. The defence stopped the run last week, but were unable to stop Printers. Jyles isn’t as good as Printers in my opinion and the Argos should be able to keep the score close. Lemon needs to make sure that he doesn’t turnover the ball nearly as much this week. Last week Lemon ended up throwing 1 INT and 2 fumbles.

Betting Picks

This game is very difficult to predict with the PickEm line set by the sportbooks. Toronto is in dire needs of a win this week after dropping 3 in a row, but they’ll be without RB Boyd this week. They also have the last place passing offence in the league, so it’s hard to imagine where the yards are coming to come from today. One thing that Toronto has going for them is that they’ll be playing at home this week where they’re 3-1 on the season. Winnipeg is also a mere 1-5 in divisional match-ups this season and I hate betting on a team that hasn’t done well in the division. Something tells me that the bookies want you to take Winnipeg this week and I’m going to go with the Argonauts at home.

Just like last night’s game, these two teams typically play games under the total. Last night’s game went flying over the total, but I’m going to have to stick with the under today. With a point total of 51.5 points I can see the game going under the total by quite a bit although it could potentially go over. With Boyd out of the game Lemon is going to need to be counted on today and I think he’s up for the job. He won’t beat you with the long ball, which means he should control the clock if he’s doing good. As long as he doesn’t throw any INT’s the under should be fine. It also helps that these two teams have gone under the past 5 times they’ve played each other in Toronto.
