CFL Week 12 Power Rankings

We seen plenty of surprises last week in the CFL, but the biggest one had to have been the last game of the week. Most people expected the Roughriders to cover by 4, including me, but they ended up getting smoked by Winnipeg. I missed a couple games this week, but I’ll be posting picks for all four games this week.

Calgary Stampeders (9-1) took on the Eskimos in the first game of the week and won 36-20. The Stamps now have a 7 game winning streak since losing to the Argos and it doesn’t look like anyone will stop them in the West. Burris settled down this week and had a great game. He completed 29 of 35 passes and gained over 400 yards while throwing 2 TD’s and only 1 INT.

Montreal Alouettes (7-3) beat Hamilton 27-6 this past week in a blowout. McPherson looked a lot better then I expected after coming off the IR, but he ended up finishing with 21 completions on 37 attempts for 238 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. He also ran the ball 16 times for 121 yards, which was a huge reason why the Als controlled the game. Cobourne finished the game with 1 TD and 52 yards on 14 carries.

Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-4) will stay in third place in the power rankings this week even though they had an embarrassing performance against Winnipeg. Thankfully for them, Hamilton also lost this past week and they couldn’t surpass them in the rankings. The Roughriders will need to figure out what is wrong this week because they really need to try and win against Calgary this week. Durant and Cates both looked terrible this week and the defence left much to be desired as well.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats (5-5) lost this week against the Als as we mentioned above. Glenn was expected to have a big game, but he played one of his worst games and only finished with 159 yards and 1 INT through the air. The running game also couldn’t get anything going all game and it resulted in the offence not scoring a TD. The defence didn’t play all that bad, but when you only score 6 points it’s really difficult too win.

Toronto Argonauts (5-5) lost 37-16 against the Lions this week in a game that they should’ve definitely won if they played up to their potential. Lemon threw 1 INT and had 2 fumbles in the game while RB Boyd had 1 fumble as well. When you have this many turnovers in a single game it’s difficult to win. The defence also gave up to many points this past week and didn’t create enough turnovers, which really hurt the Argonauts.

B.C. Lions (3-7) beat-up the Argos this week and now are on a 2-game winning streak. They have been playing a lot better football lately and they now have a great chance at still making the playoffs. Printers looks like he has found his form, as he went 25 for 39 with 302 yards and 2 TD’s through the air. The running game still hasn’t gotten going in B.C. although RB Messam ran for 2 short TD’s against Toronto.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-7) smoked the Roughriders this week 31-2 and really played great. Winnipeg is in a battle with the Lions right now for a playoff spot and the end of the season should be interesting to say the least. Jyles wasn’t used that much in the game, but when they needed him he was on the money. RB Reid had a great game and controlled the pace by running the ball 17 times for 148 yards and 2 TD’s.

Edmonton Eskimos (2-8) aren’t going to make the playoffs this year in my opinion and are going to finish in last. The entire offence looked bad this past week against Calgary and the schedule for Edmonton doesn’t get any easier. They should start testing out some young players in my opinion and regroup for next season.
