Montreal Alouettes (6-3) will play the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (5-4) for the second time this season although they’ll need to travel to Ontario this time to play in Hamilton’s stadium. The first time these two teams met was in week 4 and Montreal easily won the game by a score of 37-14, but that was before Hamilton went on their winning streak. I definitely think the game this Saturday is going to be a lot closer then the first game between these two teams.
The Alouettes lost last week against the Lions 38-17 and it was easily one of the worst games I’ve seen the Als play in a very long time. Calvillo was injured last week and Leak started in place of him, but Leak didn’t look good at all and threw 2 INT’s. At the end of the game Santos came in to play QB for the Als and he went 10 for 12 through the air with 93 yards and 2 TD’s. Neither QB is going to get the chance to play this week since Adrian McPherson is coming off the IR and will play this week.
Hamilton won last week against the Argonauts 28-13 and now have a 4-game winning streak, which is the 2nd longest active streak in the CFL right now behind the Stampeders 7-game winning streak. Glenn has been putting together a great season in Hamilton including last week where he completed 27 of 33 passes for 313 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. RB Cobb had a TD last week, but he only gained 20 yards on 10 carries, which isn’t going to cut it.
Montreal has the advantage in most offensive stats this season, but without Calvillo the offence looked lost last week. Hamilton is coming into the game on fire and won’t have a better chance to beat Montreal this season. If the Ti-Cats want to try and win the East Division this season they need to win Saturday against the Als.

CFL Betting Preview
In recent meetings between these two teams, Montreal has definitely had the upper hand with a 4-1 record ATS in the past 5 games played in Hamilton. The difference this week is that Montreal doesn’t have Calvillo on the field and will be using McPherson who is just coming back from an injury himself. The sportbooks set the spread perfectly this week for this game and it’s right on a tricky number at –3.5 although I still think Hamilton will cover. Glenn is the much better QB in this game and he should be able to lead his team to victory this week.
Generally these two teams play close games without that much scoring and I think we’ll experience the same this week, especially since Calvillo is going to be out again. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 games between these two teams and 7-2 the last 9 times that these two teams have played against each other in Hamilton. With the majority of games going under between these two teams and the Montreal offence in shambles, I expect this game to fly under the 52 point total.
