It is no secret that the Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to do everything within their power to keep superstar forward LeBron James in a Cavs uniform for as long as they possibly can. With LeBron’s free agency coming up this summer all sorts of teams of clearing cap space in the NBA and are gearing up for perhaps the biggest bidding war in the league’s history.
LeBron has already said that he wants to see his options this summer and will not sign an extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers just yet. The highest bidder will most likely be the New York Knicks who would love to have another superstar like LeBron in New York, but the Knicks aren’t exactly the kind of team anyone wants to be on right now as they are arguably one of the worst teams in the NBA.
With all that being said, and the Cleveland Cavaliers looking like the best team in the NBA right now, the Cavs will doing whatever they can to make their roster as talented as possible to avoid the devastating departure of LeBron James in the offseason.
The NBA trade deadline is just around the corner and the Cavs would like to add a big name player like the Los Angeles Lakers did a few years back by adding Pau Gasol into the mix and keeping Kobe Bryant in a Lakers uniform.
Here are the three players on the Cavs short list:
Troy Murphy, Indiana Pacers
Murphy is a great shooter and a good complimentary player to someone like LeBron James, but I really don’t see him being much of a game changer or enough to convince LeBron to stick around in Cleveland.
Amare Stoudemire, Phoenix Suns
The addition of Stoudemire would be huge for the Cleveland Cavaliers as he could quite possibly be the missing piece to the puzzle, but Amare would clog the paint in more than it already is with Shaq in the middle they way it was in Phoenix when they played together.
I could definitely see Amare Stoudemire being a great pickup for the Cavs, but another question is what would they have to give up to get him.
Antawn Jamison, Washington Wizards
The players on this list would be great additions to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but Antawn Jamison is the perfect fit for the Cavs in my opinion as he is much more versatile than any player on this short list with the ability to hurt you inside and outside.
It is pretty obvious in Washington that the Wizards aren’t going anywhere despite all their talent, but with what has recently happen to Gilbert Arenas, the Wizards will almost certainly make a deal before the trade deadline on February 18th involving either Caron Butler or Antawn Jamison or both.
Even though Jamison would be the missing piece to the puzzle for the Cavs, the question remains on who the Cavs would be willing to part ways with, but I believe if they have an opportunity to bring in Jaminson it is a no brainer!

in order to acquire a versatile player like jamison or troy murphy the cavs might have to part ways with big z and or west and maybe even varejao. also with the recent injuries to williams and west, theyre probably going to look for a point and not necessarily a forward
