The Chicago Bulls came into the NBA playoffs having made a huge improvement from the season before. Everyone knew the Bulls were a better team this season with Derrick Rose only improving his game that much more and new head coach Tom Thibodeau on the sidelines, but no one expected them to clinch the number one seed in the Eastern Conference and be playing in the Eastern Conference Finals.

There was no question that many people had the revamped Miami Heat making it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals and potentially winning it all this year, but being down 0-1 to the Chicago Bulls in the East Finals was a surprise to say the least. With the way the Miami Heat manhandled the Boston Celtics in the second round by seemingly coming into their own, the consensus was that the Heat were the team to beat, but that might not be the case as Derrick Rose and company continue to play like a championship caliber team.

Whether or not Thibodeau’s squad can keep this kind of momentum up moving forward remains to be seen, but one thing that is for sure is that no one is underestimating this team anymore as the Chicago Bulls are the real deal and ready to contend for an NBA title right now.

In Game 1, the Chicago Bulls were able to take the series lead by just destroying the Miami Heat in the Windy City by 21 points, 103-82. Derrick Rose led the way for the Bulls as usual with a 28 points and six assists, but what was perhaps the most impressive part of Chicago’s performance was being able to contain both LeBron James (15 points) and Dwyane Wade (18 points). The only player on the Heat that gave the Bulls any kind of trouble was Chris Bosh who finished with a game-high 30 points, but that wasn’t nearly enough to get past Chicago on Sunday night.
