Superstar wide receiver Chad Ochocinco hardly shone in his Patriots debut: while Tom Brady threw for a team-record 517 yards, Ochocinco had just one catch for 14 yards. Still Ochocinco took to Twitter on Tuesday to express his amazement at his new team’s offensive fireworks in their season-opening 38-24 win in Miami — and former Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi was not amused.

Bruschi, who spent his entire NFL career playing linebacker for the Patriots from 1996-2008, had an awful lot to say about Ochocinco in an interview with Boston’s WEEI radio. But first, Ochocinco’s poorly punctuated Tweet: “Just waking up after a late arrival,I’ve never seen a machine operate like that n person,to see video game numbers put up n person was WOW.”

Bruschi went way over 140 characters in his radio response:

If you’re still in awe that means you don’t get it because you don’t understand it … If you’re in it and you know what you’re doing and you execute out there you don’t think it’s amazing.  You know why? Because it’s what you’re supposed to do.  All of a sudden it’s second nature.  ‘I know I was supposed do that, yes I went 99 yards, I threw for 517.  You know why?  Because we’re that good and that’s what we’re supposed to do and that’s what I thought we were gonna do.’  You are still in awe to be a member of the New England Patriots offense. Join the system, buddy.

Maybe Bruschi’s worried about Ochocinco turning into Randy Moss, but his criticism seems particularly harsh (maybe even crossing into racist) after one game. Listen to the entire interview here (via USA Today).
