Bruce Weber Has No Time For Your Shenanigans

It’s not easy being a bubble team where your very postseason life lives and dies by your in-game performances. I can imagine life in such a pressure cooker would have its disadvantages, especially when the team you coach gets their collective asses handed to them by conference rival Wisconsin. Just ask Bruce Weber, head coach of Illinois, and perhaps his best player, Demetri McCamey.

McCamey committed a silly foul during the Wisconsin beatdown, and when he headed back to the bench, he tried to avoid Weber’s wrath.

Bad move.

Apparently, McCamey’s disrespect turned an already pissed-off Weber into walking, talking nuclear meltdown — and thanks to the work of my guys over at Midwest Sports Fans, Weber’s reaction has been captured for you to enjoy.

While I have little doubt McCamey and Weber kissed and made up — Weber needs McCamey if the Illini are to make an improbable Big Dance appearance — let this be a lesson to you all you kids out there: If the coach wants to go off, let him. Just sit there and take it like the man you are, or are supposed to be. You aren’t being disrespected, because if you hadn’t committed such a boneheaded basketball mistake, you wouldn’t be getting reamed in the first place.

Oddly enough, when the Big Ten tournament, aka, the Illini’s last, best chance to go to the NCAA Tournament, begins, Bruce Weber’s team faces a familiar foe: The Wisconsin Badgers. We’ll get to see firsthand whether or not McCamey learned whatever it was Weber was trying to teach him.
