A talent-rich group of female mixed martial artists are locked in battle in Bellator Fighting Championships’ Season 3 Women’s Tournament. Now with four of the eight remaining fighters left, the chance to become the first-ever female Bellator world champion is within reach for all competitors. After winning their opening round matchups, undefeated and the #1 ranked women’s fighter in the world Megumi “Mega Megu” Fujii, 4th ranked submission specialist Lisa Ward, dynamic striker and 3rd ranked fighter Zoila Frausto, and 7th ranked fighter/ground-and-pound bruiser Jessica Aguilar all look to take the next step in achieving the ultimate goal of becoming the first-ever Bellator Women’s Champion.
“Becoming the first Bellator Women’s Champion is very important to me,” said Aguilar. “This has been my dream since I started my MMA career, and this is the opportunity to make it all come true. I want to leave my legacy as the first ever Bellator Women’s Champion.”
As the only nationally televised women’s tournament, Bellator has provided the platform for these elite athletes to compete against the toughest competition the sport has to offer. It’s a chance these competitors have never had, and will do anything to achieve the ultimate goal.
“Winning this tournament would be a dream come true,” said Frausto. “Winning this tournament would make me the best of the best, and I want that more than anything in the world right now and will do anything in my power to accomplish that.”
My pick to win it all is Frausto. She has size advantage and serious skills. The Bellator Women’s Semifinals continue at Bellator 31 in Lake Charles, Louisiana on tonight. You can watch it on Fox Sports Net.
