Couldn’t find a good Padres dog today for the picture to go with this post so you’ll have to make do with a picture of Jake Peavy wearing an old school Padres uniform. Baseball betting for Saturday takes us out West where we’ve got the ‘Battle of SoCal’ between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers are trying to get back into the NL West race after a slow start, and have won 7 of their last 10. The Padres are trying to maintain their lead in the same division–they’re 2 1/2 games up on second place San Francisco and 4 games up on the Dodgers. This game goes at 5:35 PM Pacific from Petco Field:
SAN DIEGO PADRES VS. LOS ANGELES DODGERS:
LA is finally starting to put it together, winning 7 of their last 10 games including a 1 run victory over the Padres in the first game of this series on Friday night. Despite their recent run of success, LA still has a losing record on the road (8-11 -4.8 units) and have given up a ton of runs. They’re ranked 12th in the NL in team ERA with a 4.68 mark. The Padres have been money in the bank at home at 11-6 +4.5 units.
Clayton Kershaw is a talented pitcher, but we’re not really sure why he’s favored here. He enters with a 3.96 ERA though looked exceptional in his last start, throwing a 2 hit shutout of Colorado. Kevin Correia has a 3.97 ERA overall and a 2.60 ERA at home. Making the prices on this game more curious is the fact that the Padres have a great record against southpaws this year despite not hitting them particularly well–San Diego is 7-1 +6.8 units against lefties this season. We’ll take the home team at a small underdog price.
PLAY SAN DIEGO (CORREIA) +110 OVER LA DODGERS (KERSHAW)
