Barcelona buys childish Mascherano from Liverpool

After going out on strike against Liverpool and acting like a complete prima donna, ungrateful Javier Mascherano has gotten his wish and has been sold to Spanish club Barcelona for a reported €22 million. Good riddance!

The Argentina captain and midfielder is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Spanish champions. He then told Spanish television that it was a dream come true and he and his family have a reason to be proud. I’m not sure what they have to be proud of as Mascherano basically held Liverpool hostage until he could get his own way. He also claimed he was injured during Liverpool’s Europa League games so he wouldn’t be cup tied to the English club.

As he claimed when he moved to England, the 26-year-old said he will soon adapt to life in Spain and Barcelona quickly, and will do all he can to help the club be successful.  He had the nerve to say, “I’ll give the same as I always have for all the teams I’ve played for; sacrifice, desire and I will try to do things as well as possible and help all the time.”

Barcelona manger Pep Guardiola stated that Mascherano will be a perfect fit for his team and he won’t be used just as a defensive midfielder. He added that the player offers a lot more than defence only as he can do a lot with the ball. He then said Mascherano is young, but has a lot of experience and the club received good references about him as a person. You can bet those references didn’t come from Liverpool supporters or manager Roy Hodgson.

Liverpool were stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one as I’m sure they would have loved to teach Mascherano a lesson after he bailed on them, but frankly, they need all the money they can get. Anyway, they’ll be better off without a quitter like him.
