Evan Longoria Action Movie

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria is a badass.

Do not attempt to steal his ballcap, and do not attempt any of these stunts at home… but if you do make sure you get it on video.  Enjoy this action-packed chain of events, which begins with a fan stealing his hat and then leading Longoria on a wild goose chase around Tampa, Florida to get it back.

Heyward Homers in First At Bat

Jason Heyward began his first major league game by catching the ceremonial first pitch from Hank Aaron.  You’d think nothing could top that, until he stepped up to the plate with two on and one out.

No doubt at least a little nervous, the Atlanta Braves right fielder watched Carlos Zambrano’s first two pitches sail by for balls.  Then came a 93 mph sinker.  Heyward jacked that sucker over the right field wall, and so began his big league career as the 104th player — the sixth in Braves history — to hit a bomb in his first at bat.

He polished off the day by going 2-for-5 with four RBI in what turned out to be a historic Chicago Cubs beatdown of 16-5.  Was the 20-year-old rookie flashing the tip of the ice berg that could be his illustrious career, or was it just a case of beginners luck?  Either way, this is good for Atlanta Braves baseball.

Tim Lincecum Voodoo Bobblehead

Of all the things to do with real human hair — you know, like make wigs to donate to people with cancer — the San Francisco Giants will be giving away promotional Tim Lincecum bobbleheads this season, complete with real human hair.

By now, you are all quite aware of my love for Little Timmy, but this kind of grosses me out.

The giveaway is scheduled for July 17 at AT&T Park, but not all fans will be lucky enough to walk away with a real piece of human hair glued to their wobbly-headed action figures.  The first 20,000 fans will receive the bobblehead, but only six of them will have real human hair.

Ick.

April Fool’s Baseball Prank

There have been some pretty great pranks in the baseball world throughout the years, but I think this one tops them all.

Two Springs ago, Kyle Kendrick was tricked into thinking he was traded to Japan along with the help of teammate Brett Myers and even the local media and Kendrick’s own agent.  It was funny until the Philadelphia Phillies pitcher looked like he was about to burst into tears…

Rotations Starting to Take Shape We're hitting the tail end of Spring Training, which means many big league clubs have their rotations set in stone... at least until someone tears a ligament or starts to suck at pitching.

Bradley Out of Lineup, Cliff Lee Suspension Update Milton Bradley was out of the Seattle Mariners' lineup Sunday when they faced his former Chicago Cubs team in a spring training game. Did the outfielder really just need a day off, or was Don Makamatsu playing it safe?
