Eight Teams Target Free Agent Wide Receiver Malcom Floyd

The free agent process in the NFL has been crazy to say the least with plenty of players changing teams, but even though all the big-names are pretty much off the market like Nnamdi Asomugha (Philadelphia Eagles), Plaxico Burress (New York Jets), Randy Moss (retirement) and Santonio Holmes (New York Jets) there are still a few players available that could turn out to be game-changers.

The one free agent that is still available and getting quite a lot of interest around the league is Malcom Floyd of the San Diego Chargers. Apparently, the Chargers are still interested in re-signing Floyd after arguably his best season as a pro in San Diego, but they will have their work cut out for them with seven other teams in the running for the Pro Bowl caliber wideout.

Veteran Quarterback Marc Bulger Retires After 11 Seasons In The NFL

With the NFL lockout over and the season no longer in jeopardy, the free agent frenzy has begun in the NFL with a lot of big-name players changing venues via trade and free agency. Even though there are plenty of players going back and forth, there are a few veterans that have decided that call it a career like Brett Favre (at least for now), Kerry Collins, Randy Moss and Marc Bulger.

The biggest surprise in this group of recent retirees is Randy Moss as many people thought he had at least a year or two years left playing at a high level and might be able to help a Super Bowl title contender next season. Unfortunately, Moss didn’t get the kind of offers he was expecting and wasn’t a target of the New York Jets or the New England Patriots like he intended to be.

Randy Moss Retires After 13 Seasons In The NFL

The Hall of Fame caliber career of wide receiver Randy Moss has come to an end. After 13 seasons in which he shattered NFL records, the perennial Pro Bowler Randy Moss has decided that it is time to hang up his cleats.

It could be debated that Moss still had one, two or maybe even three productive seasons left in his legs, but no team seemed willing to take a chance on the veteran wideout. The one team most interested in signing Randy Moss this offseason was the New York Jets. The Tennessee Titans showed no interest in retaining him and the New England Patriots went in another direction by trading for Pro Bowler Chad Ochocinco.

Rookie Quarterback Cam Newton Signs With Carolina Panthers

Over the past few years, the rookie contract process has been an absolute mess with tons of holdouts and big headaches for NFL teams. Fortunately, with the NFL lockout making the timeline much shorter and putting more pressure on the player and the team to make a deal sooner rather than later, things have ironically gone much smoother.

Usually, the number one overall pick is the hardest deal to get done for any team, but this time around it was the exception for the Carolina Panthers as they were able to agree on a rookie contract much faster than the norm.

Reportedly, the Carolina Panthers have agreed on a four-year deal with quarterback Cam Newton for $22 million dollars. Unlike most number one pick rookie contracts, this one is fully guaranteed. This is drastic change of pace when compared to last year as rookie quarterback and number one overall pick Sam Bradford of the St. Louis Rams signed a contract that was worth more than $56 million more than Cam Newton’s contract.
