Nick Diaz vs. KJ Noons Preview

It’s been a long time in the making. A long time since Nick Diaz uttered that magic phrase to KJ Noons — “Don’t be scared, Homie”, but the rematch between Noons and Diaz will finally happen. This time it’s Strikeforce, not the defunct Elite XC, and it will take place on October 9th.

Will Diaz try to use his ground skills to beat Noons? This rematch might be long past just trying to secure a win. Diaz wants to punish Noons and will likely try to stand and trade shots with him. The only person that Diaz wants to beat up more than Noons is Mayhem Miller. Maybe we get to see that fight next.

John Cena: UFC Is Over the Top

This is the most ironic thing you’ll read this week. “Professional” wrestler John Cena had this to say about the UFC:

“It’s just not something that particularly interests me. UFC is where boxing was years ago, and I was never really into boxing, either. Cena said he prefers professional wrestling because it’s “regulated entertainment that’s safe for anyone to enjoy.’’ And UFC? “It is what it is,’’ he said. “It can be pretty over the top, and it’s not something I’d want my children to watch.’’

Is this guy for real? Would he let his kids watch the filth that is pro wrestling? They degrade women and basically all of humanity with their speech and stupidity in the ring. Pro wrestling is so great because “it’s regulated” that you can find a list of over 40 wrestlers that died by the age of 40.

It’s One and Done for James Toney in the UFC

Saturday night after James Toney was choked out by Randy Couture, he told Joe Rogan that he would be back in the Octagon. But Dana White says that isn’t going to happen.

About the matchup White said, “Listen, I didn’t try to sell this thing as, ‘Tune in on Saturday night, and you’re going to see the most spectacular battle and a war…I basically said what I was hoping would happen. Anything can happen in a fight. James Toney picked this fight. We’re not after boxing. We’re not trying to attack boxing. I love boxing, and I thought this question was answered back in 1993, but I’ve got to be honest, as we got closer to the fight, my stomach hurt, and I was a little dizzy and I was nervous.”

Randy Couture Dominates James Toney at UFC 118

It turns out James Toney didn’t need those 9 months of training after all. This one was over before it began. Randy Couture came out and shot on James Toney, got him to the ground and then had his way with him.

Couture dominated from top position with strikes, moved Toney up against the cage and secured 2 different arm triangles. The second one made Toney quit. Toney showed his inexperience as he didn’t even tap out correctly. He sort of waved his hand up and down and the ref called it to an end.

Couture improved to 19-10 behind a hearty Boston following. The chants of “UFC! UFC!” reverberated throughout the arena as Couture and Toney began the fight. Toney told Joe Rogan that he will be back to fight again in the UFC. We’ll see about that. He needs someone that will come out and brawl with him. Any fighter with a semblance of a ground game will finish it quickly.
