The worst team in the National Basketball Association beat the two time defending NBA champions on Wednesday night. In what many call the unthinkable; Cleveland downed the Lakers 104-99.

The loss was the third straight for the Lakers; all on the road. Los Angeles still sits with a 38-19 record; good enough for a big lead in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. The Lakers were led by a huge night from big man Pau Gasol. Gasol scored 30 points and ripped down 20 rebounds.

Cleveland moved to 10-46 on the season and 7-19 when playing at home. The Cavaliers were led by Ramon Sessions, with his 32 points. Sessions came off the bench and made 13 of 14 free throws to account for his season high.

Both teams will head to the All Star Break, and return to action next week.

The Spurs are a franchise best 46-9 on the season, 7.5 games up on the Dallas Mavericks. The Spurs have a league best 21-7 road record on the season as well. Manu Ginobili leads the balanced Spurs attack with 18 points per game. In their latest win over the Nets, Ginobili scored a team high 22 points. Tim Duncan has continued his hall of fame career, scoring over 15 points per game, and just shy of 10 rebounds per game. San Antonio ranks sixth in total offense with 103.5 points per game, and 10th in defense, allowing 96.1 points per game.

The Memphis Grizzlies took a huge blow on Wednesday morning. They found out their leading scorer Rudy Gay will miss up to four weeks with a shoulder injury. Gay hurt his shoulder in a Tuesday win to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Gay is averaging just under 20 points per game and 6 rebounds per game. The news came at a terrible time for Memphis, who is in the midst of a four game winning streak, and fighting with Utah and Denver for the final postseason spot. A postseason berth would be the first for the Grizzlies since the 2005-2006 season.

The Grizzlies are done until after the All Star Break. Memphis is 19-8 when playing at home this season, and a struggling 12-18 on the road.

Preview: Two Western Conference foes will get together for the second time in a week. The Utah Jazz will take on the Phoenix Suns Tuesday night.

The Jazz are losers of two straight games, and have fallen to third place in the Northwest Division. Utah trails Oklahoma City by four games in the division. The Jazz are scoring 99.3 points per game, which ranks 13th in the league. Defensively, Utah is allowing 99.5, 18th in the NBA. The Jazz leading scorer is Deron Williams, with 21.6 points per game and 9.6 assists per game. This is the second game for Utah without their legendary coach Jerry Sloan, who resigned after a loss to the Bulls last week.
