The 2011 Australian Open will be packed with drama as the final tuneup before next week’s Presidents Cup and as Tiger Woods returns to competition for the first time since last month’s Frys.com Open. Australian Adam Scott is the 8/1 favorite, just ahead of Tiger at 9/1. The two stars are now intricately linked by the world’s most infamous caddie, Steve Williams.

Earlier this year, Tiger fired Williams and Scott picked him up and went on to win the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Just last week, Williams said that win was great because he was able “to shove it up that black arsehole,” then took tons of flack for racism. Scott said he made Williams issue an apology but otherwise had no qualms about still employing him, then Tiger defended Williams as well after the caddie met him randomly in a casino gym and apologized in person.

Meanwhile Tiger’s last win anywhere was in Down Under at the 2009 Australian Masters. Other favorites include hometown favorite Jason Day, American Hunter Mahan, and Australian Geoff Ogilvy, the defending champion.
