On paper, the AS Roma vs Inter Milan Italian Serie A matchup on Sept. 25 looks pretty one sided. That’s because Inter sits on top of the league with 10 points from four games and Roma is way down in 19th with just two out of a possible 12 points. However, games are played on the pitch and that’s why Roma shouldn’t be written off just yet, especially with Rafael Benitez in charge of Inter and reportedly already upsetting some of his players.

Roma also has home advantage and captain Francesco Totti should be back in the lineup. Roma needs to forget about the first four games and just focus on the rest of the season. Totti was given a rest on Wednesday and it backfired on Roma as they were beaten 2-1 at Brescia for their second loss of the season. Their two points have come in draws.

Having Totti back should provide some type of psychological or mental boost to Roma and they need to get on track pretty soon as they also have a Champions League game coming up next midweek with Romanian club CFR Cluj.

Things won’t be easy for them though, as manager Claudio Ranieri lost goalkeeper Julio Sergio due to an injury as well as defender Philippe Mexes to a suspension in the Brescia game. It will be Mexes first game of a three-game ban as he was red carded after giving away a penalty. Roma will also be without Julio Sergio as he’s sidelined for a month with an ankle injury.

Inter has won three games in a row now after getting off to a rocky start under Benitez and they sit a point ahead of Brescia and Chievo in the standings. Striker Samuel Eto’o has been leading the way as he has five goals in the first four games. Roma managed to edge out a 2-1 win over Inter last season for their first home win against them dating back to 2004.

Benitez won’t have a full squad to choose from as Javier Zanetti, Walter Samuel, and Thiago Motta are all out with injuries.

AS Roma vs Inter Milan Betting Odds and Predictions

While Roma will break out of their slump sometime soon, I don’t think it will be in this match. I’d love to see them hand Benitez a loss here, but I think Inter’s too strong for them and will win by a goal.

Sportsbook William Hill has the odds of an Inter win at 5/4 and a Roma win at 5/2. A draw is listed at 2/1.
