I lived in Chicago when he played there and he was just awesome! The story goes that he walked up to Cubs GM Dallas Green at spring training and showed him a blank check and said, I'll play for the minimum if I have to. He signed a one year deal for $500k!. Then was rewarded the year after that. He was a great player, great person, and I am really dissappointed that he can't go in as a Cub. Can’t believe it!
