Agent Six instead of Agent Zero?

A few years ago when you thought of dynamic scorers in the NBA a few names came to mind like Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers or the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade. The same could be said of today as both of these players are amongst the best scorers in the league, of course you now have to add LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony above both Kobe and Wade, but all of them are arguably the best scorers in the league today. The one player you don’t hear about blowing up the stat sheet and lighting up the scoreboard anymore is Gilbert Arenas or Agent Zero as he likes to be called.

A series of injuries have seriously slowed down Gilbert Arenas career in the NBA and his ability to be the dynamic scorer he once was, but coming into this season he was going to try and turn things around as he was finally healthy and looking to prove to the Washington Wizards that he is worth the enormous $110 million dollar contract he signed with the team.

Unfortunately, that never happened, but this time it wasn’t injuries that prevented him from getting back to form as he was involved in a locker room altercation involving guns, gambling and teammate Javaris Crittenton.

The OK Coral like showdown involving the two Wizards players had some serious consequences as both players were ultimately suspended for the rest of the season and may have seriously damaged their NBA careers moving forward.

With all this negative press surrounding Gilbert Arenas and the fact that he won’t be playing basketball anytime soon, the once dominant scorer has decided to make a change by switching his jersey number from zero to six in an effort to start off with a clean slate when he is able to start playing in the NBA once again.

Changing your jersey number seems to be something that is happening quite often these days by big name players in the NBA as Kobe Bryant started the trend a few years back by switching from eight to 24 and now LeBron James has also decided to do the same by switching to six as well next season.

One reason people believe these popular players are changing numbers is to up the jersey sales as Kobe has seen a huge boost in sales since switching to 24 and I assume LeBron hopes to do the same even though he claims he is doing it to honor Michael Jordan in an attempt to get number 23 retired in the NBA.
