With the NFL regular season fast approaching, we at SportsUntapped are taking our crystal balls out of storage and examining each team’s full 16-game schedule to prognosticate how the 2012 season will play out. We’ll look at all 32 teams and reveal each one’s final record. Next up: Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams, who’ll try to bounce back from an atrocious 2011 and make the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
ST. LOUIS RAMS
Last year’s record: 2-14
Vegas Over/Under on 2012 Regular Season Wins: 6
First four games:
Sep 9 @Detroit 1:00 pm
Sep 16 Washington 4:05 pm
Sep 23 @Chicago 1:00 pm
Sep 30 Seattle 1:00 pm
The Rams probably have a slightly better chance of winning in Detroit than in Chicago, both losing their first two road games seems like a pretty sure bet. They should win one of their home games though to get to 1-3 and avoid another 0-6 start like last year.
Second four games:
Oct 4 Arizona 8:20 pm
Oct 14 @Miami 1:00 pm
Oct 21 Green Bay 1:00 pm
Oct 28 New England (London, England) 1:00 pm
I’ll be impressed if the Rams can stay within 20 points of the Packers or Patriots. Still they probably win one of the other two to match last year’s win total and finish the first half 2-6.
First four games of the second half:
Week 9 BYE
Nov 11 @San Francisco 4:25 pm
Nov 18 N.Y. Jets 1:00 pm
Nov 25 @Arizona 4:25 pm
Dec 2 San Francisco 1:00 pm
The Rams lost 26-0 in San Francisco last year, so an extra week to prepare probably won’t help. They could easily lose all four of these games, but we’ll say they catch someone on a bad day and win one, putting them at 3-9 with four to play.
Last four games:
Dec 9 @Buffalo 1:00 pm
Dec 16 Minnesota 1:00 pm
Dec 23 @Tampa Bay 1:00 pm
Dec 30 @Seattle 4:25 pm
All four of the Rams final opponents had losing records last year, but it probably won’t matter. Maybe they could squeak out multiple wins here, but I wouldn’t count on it. One more win though will double last year’s win total for a 4-12 final record.
