With the NFL regular season fast approaching, we at SportsUntapped are taking our crystal balls out of storage and examining each team’s full 16-game schedule to prognosticate how the 2012 season will play out. We’ll look at all 32 teams and reveal each one’s final record. Next up: Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Buffalo Bills, who will try to look more like the team that started last year 5-2 and less like the team that then lost seven straight.
BUFFALO BILLS
Last year’s record: 6-10
Vegas Over/Under on 2012 Regular Season Wins: 8
First four games:
Sep 9 @N.Y. Jets 1:00 pm
Sep 16 Kansas City 1:00 pm
Sep 23 @Cleveland 1:00 pm
Sep 30 New England 1:00 pm
The Bills shocked the Patriots in Week 3 last season, but lost their five other games against the AFC East. That obviously will need to improve if their going to compete this year. I see them losing one of their first two road games, probably at the Jets, and at home against the Pats in Week 4 this year for a 2-2 September.
Second four games:
Oct 7 @San Francisco 4:25 pm
Oct 14 @Arizona 4:05 pm
Oct 21 Tennessee 1:00 pm
Week 8 BYE
Nov 4 @Houston 1:00 pm
The Bills lost their seven road games last season, so it’s hard to see them winning in SF or Houston, even with two weeks to prepare for the Texans. But they should be able to win in Arizona and beat the Titans at home to stay at .500 at midseason.
First four games of the second half:
Nov 11 @New England 1:00 pm
Nov 15 Miami 8:20 pm
Nov 25 @Indianapolis 1:00 pm
Dec 2 Jacksonville 1:00 pm
After they go to Foxboro, the schedule gets pretty light for the Bills, since none of their last seven opponents made the playoffs last year. I see three straight wins to get to 7-5 and have some momentum going down the stretch.
Last four games:
Dec 9 St. Louis 1:00 pm
Dec 16 Seattle (Toronto, Ont.) 4:05 pm
Dec 23 @Miami 1:00 pm
Dec 30 N.Y. Jets 1:00 pm
I think inexperience will again hurt the Bills in some of these final games, but they’ll win two and probably just miss the final wild card at 9-7.
